Zimbabwe – Zambezi Canoe Safari
Zimbabwe:
Zambezi Canoe Safari
About The Adventure
Flowing between the Siansimba islands and the entrance to the national park is a stretch of water that channels the light of the sun and is frequented by elephants and various birds. The water flows freely, the current controlled only by gravity and the breeze. Floods usually begin in November and peak in April / May. Each new bout of rainfall unveils a new channel to explore as the river transforms with the rising water, ensuring that each canoeing safari is as unique and unexpected as the last. Heavily wooded islands emerge from the river, dissected by channels that may be several kilometres in length and vary in width. An exquisite variety of ebonies, waterberries, palms, acacia and albizzia are flung across the island, lazily waving their branches at the passing canoes. The rapids are calm grade 2 rapids, moving at a gentle enough pace to allow the passengers to drink the scenery around them. As the Canoe Trail glides through the national park, elephants, buffalo, impala, kudu, hippos, crocodiles and various species of birdlife are likely to emerge from the woodland to watch you and your canoe pass by.
